Michael Lewis Prepares For “Home Race” At Laguna Seca

Two strong finishes--8th and 6th, respectively--marked Michael Lewis' first two races in the No. 98 Porsche of Competition Motorsports/Curb-Agajanian at Sebring International Raceway in March, 2014.Laguna Beach, California (April 30, 2014) — After an impressive start to the IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama season with 6th and 8th place finishes in the first two races at Sebring International Raceway last month, Michael Lewis and the Competition Motorsports/Curb-Agajanian team prepare for the second event on the series’ 2014 calendar at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, May 1–4.

The entire Competition Motorsports/Curb-Agajanian team and driver Michael Lewis gained valuable knowledge after a recent test in between Rounds 1 and 2 in the IMSA Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama.Although a native of California, Michael has never raced at the famed road course in Monterey, California, and he looks forward to attacking the track during the first practice session on the Promoter Test Day, Thursday, May 1.
“Growing up in Southern California, it has been a dream of mine to one day compete at this famous circuit,” said Michael Lewis. “I can’t wait to drive down the famous ‘corkscrew’ turn and explore some of the other tricky corners around the track, such as Turn 9. I look forward to tackle another legendary American circuit that is new to me, just like last month when I raced at Sebring International Raceway for the first time.

Attached to Michael Lewis' Bell HP7 Carbon Helmet is this GoPro Hero 3+ Black Edition Camera, which provides an "eye level" perspective of driving a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup Car.Michael Lewis recently tested the No. 98 Porsche 911 of Competition Motorsports/Curb-Agajanian to prepare for this weekend's race at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.“Overall, my team has been putting in great work for this upcoming race to give me a fast car to do battle against the other 30 drivers on the grid,” added Michael. “I feel confident in my No. 98 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup Car to have the speed and reliability to improve upon our results from Sebring. From my obligations as a driver to the mechanics’ preparations on the race cars, it’s business as usual here at Competition Motorsports to work on being the best at what we do.”

Thursday, May 1 – Promoter Test Day
Friday, May 2 – Practice #1: 10:35 a.m. / Practice #2: 2:40 p.m.
Saturday, May 3 – Qualifying 9:00 a.m.
Sunday, May 4 – Race #1: 9:00 a.m. / Race #2: 5:15 p.m.
