Alton, Virginia—Michael Lewis made a late charge in his team Eurointernational Formula BMW and earned the third qualifying position for Round 3 of the Formula BMW Americas Championship at Virginia International Raceway. Michael earned the best starting spot of his rookie Formula BMW Americas season, clocking in at 1:57.685 (100.030 mph) around the 3.27-mile track.
“This is a good result for us and it is great for us to come to a track like this one,” Michael said. “This is a fast track, it has proper curbing, plenty of runoff area, the surface is smooth and there are lots of opportunities to make a move on someone. These guys really did it right here.”
Michael’s teammates also qualified well, with all four Eurointernational cars starting on the front two rows for the Saturday, April 25 race.
Qualifying for Round 4, which will also take place at Virginia International Raceway, will occur on Saturday, with the Round 4 event on Sunday, April 26.
