Laguna Beach, California (May 8, 2009)—Today, Speed TV spotlighted Michael Lewis in its broadcast coverage summary report of Rounds 3 and 4 of the Formula BMW Americas Championship visit to Virginia International Raceway in Alton, Virginia, that took place April 25 and 26. The report was featured during coverage of the Formula 1 practice in Spain with voiceovers by Bob Varsha and David Hobbs.
View the Speed TV coverage of Michael who jumped to second place at the start of Round 3, and stayed there for the remainder of the race until losing power on the car. The report also covers Round 4 during that weekend. The video is also on Michael’s website at www.mjlracing.com under the “videos” section.
Fielding his No. 42 Formula BMW for Eurointernational, Michael began the weekend by qualifying a strong 3rd for Round 3. After the start of the race, Michael passed Eurointernational teammate and series points leader Gabby Chaves and trailed leader and teammate Giancarlo Vilarinho for second position. Michael continued in second position throughout the race. Unfortunately, Michael’s car lost power with only four laps to go, and therefore, ended up finishing Round 3 in 11th position.
On Sunday, April 26, Michael ran a strong race during Round 4, and although fell back to eighth due to two on-track incidents caused by other competitors, he worked his way back up to finish Round 4 in 5th place. Michael now stands in 7th position in the series points standings.
Michael and the Eurointernational team will next visit Miller Motorsports Park, in Tooele, Utah, for Rounds 5, 6 and 7, May 15–17.
A great sponsor team is involved with Michael’s Formula BMW effort, which includes CTECH, Eibach Springs, Position One Motorsports, SSi Decals, Oakley, Team ASE, Klotz, Orange County Convention Center, Bell Racing, and Earl’s Performance Plumbing.
